Light yearling steers to feed sold at 235¢, while the pens to restock were around 20¢ dearer on 246¢/kg. Medium weight yearling steers to feed made 234¢, while the heavy pens to slaughter settled at 199¢/kg. Heavy grown steers averaged 195¢ and heavy D4 cows were on 161¢/kg.

Supply was lower at Tamworth with all categories back in number. The C2 yearling steers to restock and feed averaged from 228¢ to 240¢, as the heavier pens to feed made 204¢/kg. Trade yearling heifers mainly sold at 184¢ and heavy grown steers were 8¢ dearer on 194¢/kg. Heavy cows were in solid numbers and were 6¢ higher on 159¢/kg.

Throughput lifted back over 3,000 head at Wagga as a better quality yarding came forward. Light yearling steers sold to a top of 249¢, as the pens to restock averaged 236¢/kg. Medium weights to feed were on 212¢, as the heavyweights were 2¢ dearer on 202¢/kg. Heavy yearling heifers were firm on 189¢, as the heavy grown steers gained 5¢ - to 190¢/kg.

After Monday’s markets the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) was 0.5¢ lower for the week on 401.25¢/kg cwt. The trade steer indicator fell 4¢ - to 207¢ and feeder steers were also 4¢ lower on 213¢/kg lwt. Heavy steer prices were firm on 192¢ and medium cows finished 2¢ cheaper on 147¢/kg lwt.
