Korea Exports Semen of Dairy Cattle to Malaysia, Uganda

 Yonhap News Agency reports that NongHyup Agribusiness Group under the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, known as Nonghyup, said it has shipped 1,500 units and 5,000 units of artificial-insemination purpose semen to Malaysia and Uganda, respectively.

Nonghyup said it marks the first time for South Korea to ship the products to a Southeast Asian country. The federation said it has exported the products to Uganda for the fourth consecutive year.

The latest project paved way for South Korea's dairy industry to tap deeper into the Southeast Asian market at a time when the Malaysian government has been seeking to expand production of milk products.

The Dairy Cattle Improvement Center under Nonghyup said the productivity of Korean dairy cattle is three times higher than those of Malaysian cows, claiming the project will lend support to the Malaysian milk industry.
